What is important to you personally about privacy?
Medical records, pertinent personal details like home address, high privacy on social networking sites like Facebook

What information about yourself are you comfortable in giving out?
Where I’m from, email (address attached to no identifying information), phone number (except when asked at department stores, give fake number or work number)

What do you think of when I ask you about confidentiality?
From work perspective – think about people giving out phone and address information in front of other patrons, recently eliminated patrons having to give SS#

What influences in our society are changing how we think about privacy?
More information being available online (especially more user generated personal information), fear atmosphere fostered by current government administration (post-9/11), prevalence of social networking

How do you feel about privacy? What concerns do you have about privacy?
Worry that should be shredding personal documents

What types of information could hurt a person if made public?
One person doesn’t feel like others having social security number is that big of a deal (not going to harm her at this point in life), sexual orientation and religion (especially when related to applying for jobs), ethnicity and race, medical information (especially pregnancy and status of having/not having children)

What information about others do you feel you need to know?
Want to know more personal details from friends (email, birthday, etc.), criminal history

What decisions have you made about your privacy? Do you take any actions to protect your privacy?
Not allow address, phone number, etc to be posted online (university search for example), not free with sharing information online, Google self to see what comes up, wouldn’t even give name if hit on at a bar

What trade-offs or compromises would you be willing to make with your privacy?
Not comfortable with drug testing – thinks inappropriate
